Ok, seriously, it’s 2020 now. Not 1920. Can we please have a gay love story movie that isn’t depressing and has a happy ending? I know these producers may have good intentions, but these depressing, heartbreaking movies are, in the end, only making gay youth even more depressed about being gay. They portray the image that if you’re gay, falling in love is bound to end badly. We live in a time now where there are finally millions of examples of gay men living happy lives, falling in love, being accepted by their families, and successfully starting their own homes and families.
Can we please start portraying that in gay themed movies and start actually giving hope to the new generation of gay youth?
We’re the only community that has next to no positive representation on the big screen and it’s well past time for that to change!
