Diablo - The Butcher (Diablo 1)

This is the story and lore behind Diablo’s «The Butcher», the fight itself and what the townsfolk had to say about it. I plan to do this for all of the Diablo quests, and perhaps Diablo 2 eventually.

  1. The atmosphere of D1 is carved deeply in my memory. The lighting, music, and graphics were perfect to sometimes send chills down your spine. The butcher was just creepy as hell. I do remember cheating a bit and got him stuck around the stair and shot him to death with my rogue.

  2. I remember trapping the butcher in a room and firing endless arrows into him was the only way I could beat him as a low level

  3. Diablo 1 was pretty scare for me as a kid, especially the butcher haha. But scary in a really good way. I miss this atmosphere.

  4. Everyone get creeps out when first encountering the butcher, especially playing at high volumes

  5. I need to get some laptop and play this game again, together with Fallout 2 😀

  6. Thought perhaps one of the easier boss fights in this game I cannot shake the feeling of terror that it brought to me when I was young. This game truly had excellent atmosphere.

  7. What I love so much about this is the amount of times you hear about the butcher before you see him. It’s almost like you’re building it up in your head to be the worst thing imaginable and you’re never quite sure when you’ll stumble upon him. Although you do tend to find the butcher quite quickly by accident sometimes. But still… the idea is cool

  8. Pawn shop: "So whattya got here"
    Warrior: "Butcher's cleaver"
Pawn shop: "Mind if I call a buddy of mine to check it he lives in the catacombs?"

  9. Opening the door to the butcher’s den scared the sh*t out of me when I was young. Ahhh memories.
