  1. I think the dormant mechanic is cool but definitely underdone. To have a card's effect be delayed by two turns and still be playable, the effect would have to be crazy. Most of the cards from ashes of outlands don't live up to that standard

  2. For me, the dormant mechanic shines best when the trigger to awaken isn't turn based. I would like to see dormant designs similar to Sherazin and Lucentbark in future expansions.

  3. Hate it. Cannot play around. It’s like condensing a “play with yourself” deck into a single minion.

  4. 9:30 I mean, people are always gonna complain about something, so, yeah. It's Hearthstone, what'd you expect?

  5. There should be a petition or something to make the game developers put the doomsayer laugh in the game whenever he gets summoned by random effects.

  6. Ashes of Outland handled dormant really well, I think. It almost feels like reverse overload in a sense. Pay cheap for big stuff later rather than pay extra thanks to overload, gain stats immediately

  7. 9:27 was expecting the Penn Gillette vid of him saying "you need to S. T. F . U!!!"

While dormant was very interesting, and mechanics for paying up front for bigger payoffs later are pretty cool, this one might not be a good fit into as fast a paced game as hearthstone without making them have insane payoffs, plus too many starts to mucks up mechanics like evolution and random summons and has some other odd interactions like with reborn.

  9. Dormant is really annoying it's like having a frozen minion for 2 turns. It's worse than that though because neither you or your opponent can interact with it. This is the reason rush minions are good with immediate board impact

  10. I like Dormant mechanic, it sacrifices frontloaded tempo for delayed board presense that usually comes with a benefit. This mechanic exists in other CCGs too. I would like if Dormant minions received more support. For example, there could be a card that says "advance your dormant counter" or "awaken all dormant minions". A while ago I had this idea for a Rogue spell "All minions go Dormant. A player must play 4 cards in a turn to awaken theirs". It was obviously based on Sherazin and seemed like a good fit for Rogue after Vanish rotated out.
