Diablo 2 LoD: Zealot Gameplay

Gameplay video of my level 84 Zealot taking on Hell Diablo and his Minions. Played untwinked on single player with patch 1.13. For more information on how to make a Zealot, head over to http://www.diablowiki.com/Zealot_by_lMarcusl

  1. Hey man thanks for the build wiki. I decided to play a lil D2 again to kill some time before D3. I was just wondering why you put so many points into Sacrifice? In this video you strictly used Zeal. Do you switch back and forth depending on the situation or something? Thanks!

  2. @sickada Glad you liked it 🙂 I sometimes do switch between the two if I need to quickly kill a single monster in a larger crowd (e.g. Unraveller in an army of Skeletons), but the main purpose of sacrifice is that it synergizes with Zeal and adds a ton of damage to it. While each point in Zeal increases damage by 8%, each point in Sacrifice increases the damage of Zeal by 15%.

  3. @MarcusTheAbsolute Ohhh okay right on. I mostly played non-expansion, wasn't thinking about that. Thanks man.

  4. @MarcusTheAbsolute just started playing D2, i was told that playing this game will help me if i want play D3.. quick question.. i never saw you re-casting holy shield the whole 10mins. how can i do that??.. thanks in advance..

  5. @greybarbz I did recast it once I think. By leveling up this skill you increase its duration among other things. My holy shield is at or above lvl 20 so the duration of the spell is approximately 9 minutes.

  6. @MarcusTheAbsolute hahah.. I see. thanks man. problem is I still have 6 skill points left, lvl 24 just now. should i use them all to for sacrifice or should I save them for the fan skill??

  7. @greybarbz I guess by fan skill you mean the Redemption aura? If Zeal already hits for 5 attacks, you can spend the rest of the points you have saved up for Sacrifice to improve your damage. However every skill point you get between 24 and 28 should probably be spent on Holy Shield because you will need more survivability towards the end of Normal and start of Nightmare difficulty. After 28, save two skill points so that you can get both Fanaticism and Redemption the moment you hit lvl 30.

  8. First of all thanks for the build guide! I've been using it for a while and and now a lvl 75 in hell diff just killed radament. Two questions, my VIT is larger than STR and DEX…. should I top them first or go for the 205 in VIT then hit the others?? also what gear would you recommend for now (act III, LVL 75)??

  9. @GenMathis74 It all depends really. If you have items that give you decent stat bonuses you theoretically wouldn't need to put more points into str and dex at all. Ideally though, you should raise your stats equally (5 points each per 3 levels) until you reach numbers that you are comfortable with. It also depends on how you're doing. If you feel you die all the time, you might want to keep raising vit.

  10. @GenMathis74 As for items, that is really hard to say, since on single player you don't have much choice. Preferrably though, you should try to keep your resistances high (at least around 40) armor at least over 3000-4000 (with holy shield on; I have somewhere around 6000 so the more the better) and most importantly, you want to be dealing somewhere around 800 damage per hit as your max. If you have all these things, I think you're fine for the moment.

  11. That's essences that you can beat out of Act Bosses on Hell. When you collect all of them and combine them in the cube, you can respec your stats and skills.

  12. Not really. The only reason I used her was mostly because I wanted some additional elemental damage, found a pretty decent bow and mostly because I was tired of using Act 2 mercs all the time. Technically speaking the best mercenary would be Act 2 Might. Don't use holy freeze because it will cause a lot of enemies to shatter, leaving fewer corpses for you to redeem. Widowmaker or pretty much any higher tier or upgraded (Cube) unique bow would do for an act 1 merc though.

  13. i notice that you don't have salvation at your point allocation and your defiance is only at level 1, which defensive aura do you think is more effective redemption or defiance?

  14. I personally think Redemption is far superior because defense can be taken care of in other ways such as by using Holy Shield, while burst healing can only really be accomplised by using Rejuvenation Potions and those are very valuable. Most importantly though, Redemption has the benefit of only needing to be turned on for a moment. With Defiance, if you really want the armor for the duration of the fight, you'd have to have Fanaticism turned off, which would make your DPS drop like a rock.

  15. yes but im not using defiance activly, it's a passive skill which upgrade the holy shield as sacrifice upgrade zeal, i have fanatasism at level 20 and redemption level 1

  16. I see. Well, I guess then it's a bit more viable but still, you're only enhancing your already superior defense, while Redemption covers an entirely different branch of problems. Once you get hit hard, all the defense in the world may not save you from the next fireball that kills you while Redemption could. But I guess if you want to go superdefensive, you could put about 10 points in there instead of the Redemption, I just think that defense alone won't solve as many problems as instaheal.

  17. well bro you completley wright, at hell dificulty redemption is far more usefull, now my paladin at level 83 and i didnt decide which skill i should up zeal at level 13 or vengence to level 2

  18. Both are viable, but again Vengeance covers an entirely different area and would therefore most likely be the better choice since it is the only skill that provides you with elemental damage.

  19. I haven't played D2 since I posted the Bowazon guide so it's been over a year. I never used any mods for the game. As for D3, it certainly has its problems. The terrible storytelling mechanics and poorly written, almost unbearable dialogue ruined the flavour of the franchise for me; the devs don't understand that a game based on repetition should not be dialogue heavy. And I certainly don't like the "music". As a story the game does poor job overall. But the gameplay itself is great regardless.

  20. I am slowly making my way through D3 (I see no reason to rush something we've been waiting over 10 years for) and currently have 10 characters at the start of Hell. Once I'm done with them, if they are good enough, I'll make guides and videos for them as well.

  21. You can look up all skill level information if you google Diablo 2 Skill Calculator. It's on Diablo Fans like my guides. Fanaticism radius increases by 0.33 yards per level. I used Dangoon's Teaching with Amn rune in it for 7% lifesteal.

  22. I would make a couple of alterations to your build…
    a) ditch redemption. rejuvs and other pots should be more than enough to keep your HP and mana topped. Failing that, just put one point into it. 10 is really overkill imo.
    b) Put points into defiance! It massively increases the effectiveness of Holy Shield. If you have really godly defense already I guess it's not necessary…
    c) I'd still max out zeal. The extra 6% damage per level totals to missing out on 48% damage this character has.

  23. Also, unless you're keeping a rogue around for the faith runeword (which would kind of defeat the purpose of using a Zealot in the first place), an Act II merc with defiance, holy freeze, or might would increase your survivability or damage output greatly.

  24. I don't understand, how is Diablo's lightning beam thing doing zero damage to you?

Do you have insane lightning resists? One of your skills?

    Thanks.
