Diablo II: Inferno/Nova sorceress a.k.a New Levels of Masochism

Hello!
Sooooo… I finally made Inferno sorceress. This one is painful to watch. And a bit painful to play. You may think I’m a total gaming masochist, but it’s not that. Story behind this char is simple: I’ve seen a lot of videos in which MrLllamaSC is making fun of Inferno sorcs or Arctic Blast druids. I totally understand that, bc Inferno is one of the dumbest skills in game. But still, part of me wanted to give it a shot, just to see how bad it really is. And I have to admit: it sucks. I’m not going to convince anyone that such sorc makes sense. She doesn’t. But it’s late in ladder, I’m stuck at home bc of quarantine and just wanted to do something silly. As backup skill I chose Nova, bc I never used this skill. And it doesn’t have synergies. In this clip I’m showing my attempts to kill every act boss in Hell difficulty. Two deaths aren’t that bad, considering all fire immunes and the fact that sorc really isn’t meant to facetank anything. Maybe I could avoid those deaths if I would play more cautiously. But still, I’m a little surprised that this sorc survived Chaos. It took forever to clear it, I skipped many monsters, but in the end, turns out that Diablo himself was a piece of cake. Another tough place was Throne, which was totally expected. In a way, it was fun. I will definitely play this char every now and then, probably will work on her and her merc’s gear a little. So far, build details look like this:
Skills: maxed Inferno, Warmth and Fire Mastery. One point in Static, Telekinesis, Teleport, Frozen Armor. Rest of points was divided between Nova and Lightning Mastery.

GEAR:
helm: Crown of Ages with two Um runes
armor: Ormus Robes +3 Inferno with fire facet / Gladiator’s Bane with Sol rune (for some extra dmg reduction in late Hell)
weapon: Leaf staff in +3 Inferno base
amulet: Mara’s — skills and res
rings: 2x SoJ — Nova costs a lot of mana. 1 SoJ and 1 BK could be ok tho.
belt: Verdungo’s — fhr and dr
boots: Silkweave — bc of mana
gloves: Magefist
CtA/Spirit on switch
inventory: 4x fire skiller, 3x light skiller, 16/18 sorc torch, small charms with res and fhr

Mercenary:
a2 Holy Freeze aura merc, using Tal’s mask, eth Gladiator’s Bane and eth Kelpie Snare (I should upgrade it, I know)

That’s all I guess. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this buid to hc players. I may rebuild her a little. Or experiment with some sorc of melee/Inferno sorc maybe. Or nova/melee? Who knows!
Thank you for watching — if anyone managed to watch whole video ^_^ As always: if you have any questions about this char or D2 in general — let me know in comments, I’ll do my best to help.

MUSIC:
Kristen — My chance
Ścianka — Boję się zasnąć, boję się wrócić do domu
Dalek — Guaranteed Struggle
Portishead — We carry on
Nicki Minaj — Hard white

  1. I’m happy to see a new video from you and I’m looking forward to watching it. There’s nothing wrong with having fun with rarely-used skills instead of sticking solely to whatever games out to be among the “best” builds. And Nova is a perfectly fine choice if using the Lightning tree as your backup element. The problem with Inferno and Arctic Blast isn’t their raw numbers but the hidden NextDelay timer which prevents them from actually applying their rated damage per second. I say game on, if they’re fun then use them. For sure, though, in any actual competitive environment they represent poor choices due to their inherent yet hidden problems.

Have you tried Fire Wall and Nova? You get a lot of extra points for tertiary skills since Nova has no synergies and Fire Wall doesn’t really need them (and you’ll put some or a lot into Warmth anyway).

  2. Snare is the mvp in the baal fight surely 😀 nice video :3 what's next? Arctic blast fire druid? 😀
