  1. My first encounter with the Butcher.. 12 years old, stereo on full volume, just went through the door not knowing the Butcher was inside… AHH FRESH MEAT!! Got hacked to death… I still remember every moment… just stunned as a chill crawled down my spine!

  2. Fun vid, thanks for the memories! Like many of the other commenters, I panicked when I saw how fast Tge Butcher was. Wound up trapping myself in an alcove or something. Had to reload.

  3. Me and my uncle used to always call the dying man outside of the cathedral gate "pizza topping"

  4. fun fact : when in Fallout 2, you approach the Slave Master Metzger (german for butcher), he says the exact same thing.. "ahh, fresh meat".

  5. They took an icon gaming encounter and revamped it into a generic boss fight, a misguided fan service?

    Liked him in HOTS though.

  6. Diablo 1 was so much more simple. Like a horror movie.
"There's this specific monster that did those things, people tried to stop him but failed."
And lots mobs, but still plenty immersive.

I'm familiar with playing Diablo 3, where there's a generic superdemon in every cave and roaming near the cities and they have those crazy laser, ground shaping, explosive-horde summoning skills. It feels less like a story with characters and more like those bullet hell games with airplanes.

  7. Jesus. I actually remember seeing my older brother having a friend over with his computer, and they played together, struggling with The Butcher for like 20 minutes straight. The horror!

Fast forward a year, I started playing it while sitting in my dad's lap translating the English into our native language. Was good fun! Although every time I opened that damn door to the butcher I was scared silly. 😂

  8. Good old times when warrior was just warrior. Not Prince Aidan was the oldest son of King Leoric thanks to new lore which makes no sense when town didn't even know who warrior was in diablo 1.

  9. The butcher opens doors just like king leoric. Don't lie to people like that. If the room is chock full of small enemies and they get in his way of the door, then you'd have a chance to shoot him, yes, but you would need enough to halt his movement, much like the room full of lightning resistant skeletons.

  10. I didn't even know i wanted Diablo lore untill i found this 👍 nice work dude

  11. This boss, many of you are too young to remember but this monster scared the hell out of any little boy who played this game in the mid nineties.

  12. 0:45 When Farnham said something about a butcher killing people, I immediately discounted it. But since you brought it up, maybe it is true."

  13. "you could just lock him in a room and shoot arrows at him" Sounds like a- "this seems unfair" bitch he mutiliates people for fun, pretty sure he ain't gonna be nearly as nice to you as you are being to him.

  14. I had this one hack that would let you kill the butcher by closing a door swinging at the door when it's closed with him standing behind it

  15. (Around 2:40) Though out Diablo 1 based on the dialogue it seems odd that the hero would be related to King Leoric or the younger son. It is just a bit weird (I do not mind at all the story later being like that though).

  16. Damn those memories come back. The soundtrack and the story and the gameplay was so engaging. I remember sometimes after a big fight I used to be so scared and just used to come back to the village to talk to the people and be away from all the undead xD. Every new entrance with new monsters , exploring the dark passages was so scary. Beautiful memories <3
